How Brian does roof washing
A pressure washer absolutely cannot be used on asphalt shingle roofs or most tile roofs.
Water and cover the landscaping
Everything green is soaked. Most bushes are tarped. One crew member keeps plants watered for the whole job, in hot weather or cold.
Mix to match the roof
A blend manifold mixes the cleaner remotely to the strength the growth calls for. The blacker and older the staining, the stronger the mix.
Apply and wait
The cleaner goes on and sits for 20 to 30 minutes. It has a strong smell while it works.
Rinse and inspect
Rinsing shows any stubborn areas or anything that was missed.
Treat again, rinse again
A second application covers what the first rinse revealed, followed by a final rinse.
Why not pressure
Pressure strips the granules that protect asphalt shingles. Roofs are cleaned with sodium hypochlorite at the right strength, which removes the growth and leaves the shingle alone.
The 12-month warranty
If black streaks or organic growth come back on the shingles within 12 months, Brian comes out and touches it up at no charge. It rarely happens.
